The Zone Of Interest

This was a project very dear to One Of Us. Beautifully shot by Łukasz Żal; the movie carried the trademark of director Jonathan Glazer. Shot on a complex but unobtrusive multi-camera rig using Sony’s Rialto system (a concept that One Of Us pioneered with the One-Cam for the movie Under The Skin), it used particularly wide; but with very little distortion Leitz M0.8 lenses. Everything was in sharp focus, always.

So, the comp work needed to be extremely precise and not distract the audience from the performance. The work involved set extensions with a mix of DMP and CG elements, smoke and atmospherics, split screens and some complex re-timings. The movie was also shot across all seasons; so maintaining continuity was crucial.

Other scenes were shot with thermal imaging were resolution tops at 1024px for state-of-the-art devices; so we enhanced the plates with different AI upscalers which then required quite a lot of cleanup in comp as the thermal sensor also have a slower read-out which leads to artifacts.
