Pinocchio

VFX Supervisor Theo Demiris went on a 3 month shoot with director Garrone after a lengthy pre-production for this project.

We had amazing references from the Mark Coulier’s prosthetics; so instead of replacing everything with CG we had to seamlessly marry the prosthetics with CG, in particular: Pinocchio’s nose , Tuna’s body and the antennae on the Cricket and Snail.

The transformation sequence, were Pinocchio and Lucignolo morph onto donkeys; was particularly challenging as this was achieved in 2D with only the ears body-tracked to the characters.
